James Fisher is an Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo (Faculty of Law & Graduate Schools for Law and Politics). James received his law degree from the University of Oxford (St. Catherine's College), having also studied European and international law at Leiden University, The Netherlands. James subsequently studied in Japan, supported by a Daiwa Scholarship from the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation. After a time at Hogan Lovells LLP (Tokyo), James took up his academic post at the University of Tokyo, where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in both English and Japanese law. He also researches English private law, Japanese constitutional law and comparative law. James is a member of several legal professional and academic societies in the UK and Japan.
